I'm thinking about writing a novel over my winter break, which is Dec 12-Jan 12. Why not? Except the only problem is I don't remember how to plan a novel. It's been awhile! Last time I wrote a novel was only partial and was two summers ago! Gotta figure these things out.
What makes you write?
And for the non-writers who follow me/pay attention to these things... what makes you do your art?
I realize that this is kind of a shallow question, but I often question whether or not I actually like writing. Sometimes I'm like "hell yes" and other times I'm like "...meh." I've been exploring this question for several years now... still no conclusions. This journal is a half-butt attempt to start yet another conversation about it. So I guess we'll see what happens!
New Year, New Do!
With the New Year underway I thought it best to write some updates! 2015 was a year of many, many new things and paradigm shifts for me. In May I was in Texas for a wedding and actually danced (that's new) at a venue that had a saddle disco ball (also new to me...). I'm also suffering from the parallel condition of working 40 hrs a week (which is much more work than just being in school) and wanting to lie down and "zzz" all the time.
I also have this very strong feeling that the actual story itself is moving too slowly. I think it's the difference between reading speed and writing speed. Though I have been using voice-to-text with good results, which
It Begins
So I'm starting my WinBreWriMo! That's my stupid abbreviation for Winter Break Writing Month :bucktooth:. It entertains me, so yeah!
I've been doing a lot of graphic design lately, for my Myers Briggs tumblr blog. On that note I'm actually thinking about running a kickstarter to fund my Adobe subscription (it's $360 a year, $30 a month) until I'm out of school and have a "real job."
I started the novel today and so far there's 1,674 words. I'm using illuminara (https://www.deviantart.com/illuminara) 's novel tracker for it:
Thus far I'm feeling very good about it; not stressed. I think something that helped me was this advice I read where if you don't know the name for somethin
